OnlineGambling.ca has taken 12 of the most popular Vegan takeaway launches for #Veganuary, and figured out what each state’s favourite flavour for veganism is. The team set out to reveal which country is searching the most for these takeaways and which aren’t searching at all.

Canada’s favourite vegan takeaway is Subway
The front runner dominating Canada is Subway, who won over 4 of the provinces’ hearts. McDonald’s vegan was also popular across 4 provinces but, when it came down to search volume, Subway was the clear winner.
Provinces not searching at all
Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Yukon Territory.
While Canada seems to be pretty welcoming towards the plant-based diet, absolutely no states were searching for England’s sweetheart, Greggs, alongside Dunkin’ Donuts who received 0 searches.

KFC is the most popular vegan takeaway in the USA
So, the results are in, KFC has won the hearts of 32 states across the USA. We’re not shocked, considering their vegan fried chicken launched in 2019 sold out in just 6 hours.
Who wasn’t interested in the vegan takeaways?
Wyoming, District of Columbia, West Virginia, New Hampshire, Idaho, Kansas, Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, North Dakota, Nebraska, Rhode Island, South Dakota and Vermont weren’t searching for them at all. That’s 16 out of 50 states.
Disclaimer: Burger King Vegan received a fair few searches, but their
‘vegan’ Impossible Whopper isn’t actually vegan. Eek.

UK’s favourite vegan treat is Subway
100% of the subregions in the UK were searching for some form of plant-based takeaway.
Similar to Canada, Subway has tickled the fancy of most of the UK population, as it received the highest search. The likes of Tim Hortons and Dunkin’ Donuts, however, received absolutely no searches.
England is fully onboard the vegan fast-food boat
England was searching the most out of the UK, favouring KFC, Chipotle and Taco Bell. This was then followed by Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
So which country was searching the most?
The USA is the hands-down winner, followed by the United Kingdom and then Canada.
Although we were only able to gather data from the states where the information was available, across the 3 countries there was a clear winner as Subway took the top spot for 2 out of the 3.
Methodology
The team at OnlineGambling.ca compiled a list of some of the most popular vegan fast-food offerings (new to Jan 2020) across CA, USA and UK. We cross-referenced this with Google Trends data from the past month to find out how much of the population from each country are searching for the vegan takeaways. The data was then ranked in terms of search volume, this allowed us to find out which states are searching the most for which takeaway, and which aren’t searching at all.
