Most sports fans will know the feeling of watching your favorite team. Those heart-stopping moments when they come close to winning, and the pure despair when they miss out.
OnlineGambling.ca hooked 40 avid sports fans to heart monitors in order to track their heart rate throughout a game, discovering which sporting moments got people’s pulses pumping.

HEART RACING SPORT
Taking first place as the most heart racing sport is the NFL, with the highest heart rate reading at 137 BPM compared to the usual resting heart rate of 60 - 100 BPM.
Coming closely behind is soccer, with the highest BPM reaching a humongous 136, showing that it’s not just NFL fans that get gripped to the game.
In third place is basketball with the highest BPM at 125.
These are the sports stars that
get people the most excited
Not only did the study analyze the impact of sport on people’s pulses, it also looked at the sports stars that were playing during the game. The data revealed that the games that got people’s heart rates pumping featured the likes of NFL legend Tom Brady, basketball icon LeBron James and tennis champ Andy Murray all got people’s hearts going crazy.

We also wanted to see how these sports fans react to their teams on social media. Despite its calm manner of playing, it seems golf fans are the angriest, with 42% of all tweets about the sport being classified as an angry comment. Whereas, cricket and ice hockey fans show the most love for their team, with 38% of their social media posts being filled with love. Basketball fans seem to be the most sad with their teams’ results, with 38% of reactions being unhappy.

Methodology
We monitored and analyzed the heart rates of 40 people as they watched their favorite sports game to see whose heart rate went up the most compared to the others. We then looked at the players that were in the games to see which sports players got their fans the most excited. Furthermore, we used BuzzSumo to analyze social reactions on Twitter to each sport.
